What does your toddler bring to school/day-care for lunch?
We have been in a bit of a mac-n-cheese rut for an embarassingly long time. It can be made ahead, has the calories she needs, we add beef to give iron (okay, there are a ton of excuses.) But I need help! She can't quite grasp a real sandwich yet and is at a nut-free facility (so no PB&J.) What do you pack for your toddler's lunch?

What about a turkey pinwheel with hummus that someone posted...I bet she would love that. you can also pack some cheese and fruit and she will be good to go!

We're in a mac and cheese rut as well. We do Surprise Quesadillas (recipe available on this site) for a nice change. They are easy to eat for our 15 month old. They are packed with protein (chicken), dairy (cheese), good fat (avacado), and greens (spinach) They travel easily and can be eaten warm, cold or at room temp.

My son loves frozen edamame. I also pack a fruit and some cheese.

Also-- we were once at a party where they served tea sandwiches. There was some sort of yummy cream cheese/chicken/cucumber sandwich. It seemed the bread had been pressed, and then the sandwich itself had been pressed. My son ate a huge number of them- he was only a little over a year old, but they were easy for him to handle, and the ingredients were "sticky" enough to be contained nicely within the bread. Good luck!

Ha! Tea sandwiches are big with our daughter. Never thought about them until we were at a holiday party recently. We couldn't get her to stop eating them. Chicken salad, tuna salad. If you switch from the traditional white to wheat, sneak in some veggies in the mix and use a low-fat mayo, you've got a very easy to eat sammy.

I will have to make tea sandwiches for my nieces next time I see them!

Is the recipe on the site?
