I love to add color to my family's diet. My kids love peaches and butternut squash so I thought why not put the two together for a synergy of phytonutrients and vitamins and minerals all in one beverage!
This is an excellent source of vitamins A & C and also 3.5 grams of fiber per 6 ounces of smoothie!
American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations on Juice intake are as follows:
* under 6 months: no juices should be given!
* toddlers & children under 6 yrs of age: 4-6 ounces/day
* 7-18 yrs of age: 8-12 ounces per day
1 cup frozen peaches, thawed (unsweetened) – add more to taste
1/4 c baked butternut squash (plain)
1/4 c white grape juice or plain water
pinch of cinnamon
*optional a touch of agave nectar
*personally I think the white grape juice is sweet enough. Keep in mind if giving it to an older baby it is not necessary to add sugar in their diet.)
Add the white grape juice, peaches, butternut squash, and cinnamon. Blend until smooth. Taste to make any adjustments. Serve immediately.
Makes 12 fluid ounces or 2 servings
